Home Affairs Committee

Sitting on the Home Affairs Committee, I scrutinise the Home Office and examine government policy, spending and the law in areas including immigration, security, and policing.

This has involved questioning senior civil servants, ministers and the Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, on issues including: immigration; channel crossings; asylum hotels; the summer riots; and Met Police funding. I have also quizzed senior figures in the police, the National Crime Agency, Immigration & Border Control and MI5 on a range of security issues and Professor Alexis Jay & Baroness Casey on child sexual exploitation.
