Protecting Our Environment
I'm fighting for a fair deal on the environment, and remain as determined as ever to deliver the fairer, greener future we deserve.
Since being elected, I’ve campaigned against threats to our local environment, and championed policies that will help secure a sustainable future.
I've called for accountability over sewage dumping & oil spills into our rivers, opposed Heathrow expansion that fails to address our noise, air quality & climate change responsibilities, stood up for protecting our green spaces, and promoted Electric Vehicles (EVs) and active travel as climate-friendly transport alternatives.
Sustainable Transport
I raised in Parliament and at the Cycle UK Reception the need to make active travel, including walking and cycling to school, safer and more accessible.
I’m encouraged by the Government’s investment in active travel infrastructure, but promoting behavioural change and cycling safety is also vital. I’ll keep fighting for healthier and more sustainable transport options.
I’ve welcomed steps to give carmakers more flexibility on EV targets, but we need to go further, faster. That’s why I’m pushing the Government to cut VAT on public charging, bring back the plug-in car grant and scrap the unfair EV car tax hike.

Protecting Our Rivers and Streams
I met with Environment Minister Emma Hardy in the wake of the river Wandle oil spill and pushed for the Environment Agency’s investigation report to be completed and discussed steps to prevent future spillages & protect vital ecosystems.
I’ve also pushed the Government to honour their commitments to protect our chalk streams. Seeing sewage overflow into the Hogsmill for over 30 hours in September left my constituents disgusted & frustrated, whilst I was disappointed to see Labour axe their chalk stream clean up plan.
I signed an Early Day Motion pushing for chalk stream protection, and asked the Environment Secretary to take steps to improve water quality in these precious resources.

Campaigning Against Heathrow Expansion
I’ve campaigned alongside Lib Dem colleagues against Heathrow expansion, speaking up for our climate commitments in parliament.
The increased volume of flights from a third runway will boost noise and pollution levels in our area, with damaging effects on our health and wellbeing. Legal limits on nitrogen dioxide levels have been breached for years in the area surrounding Heathrow!
I pushed ministers to pursue economic growth through re-engaging with Europe via a customs union, not trashing our climate commitments.

Holding Thames Water Accountable
I joined Lib Dem colleagues in giving evidence at Thames Water’s court hearing.
Thames has overseen shocking levels of sewage discharge into our rivers, while using loans and receipts to pay more in dividends to shareholders than investment in infrastructure. We’ll keep fighting for a fair deal for our constituents.
