Wimbledon MP Paul Kohler sat down with Wimbledon Quarter owners to raise residents’ concerns and discuss ideas to improve the space. Discussions involved new businesses, job creation, and community-focused redevelopment. Paul backed plans for family-friendly spaces and innovative uses beyond retail and hospitality.

Wimbledon MP Paul Kohler has met with Alex Woolf, Managing Director of Romulus, the owners of Wimbledon Quarter, to discuss the future of the shopping centre.

Responding to residents’ growing frustration, Paul Kohler raised local concerns directly with Romulus, urging a clear strategy to attract new tenants, boost footfall, and reinvigorate the local economy. Romulus confirmed plans for an anchor tenant in the former Debenhams unit and an expanded M&S, both expected to provide much-needed momentum for Wimbledon’s retail revival.

Paul also backed broader community use of the space from family-friendly facilities and children’s play areas to more opportunities for local events and leisure activities.

Commenting after the meeting, Paul Kohler MP said:

“I share local residents’ concerns about the number of empty shop units in Wimbledon Quarter, and I’m encouraged that Romulus are taking steps to address this. A thriving town centre is essential to our local economy and community life.”

“By attracting new businesses and reimagining how the space can be used for everyone, we can breathe new life into Wimbledon’s high street and make it a place people are proud to visit.”
